True peace is not merely the absence of tension; it is the presence of justice.
                              Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

No justice. No peace.

OUR BEGINNING

Many felt outraged, sickened, and saddened after the killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis police on May 25, 2020.  Some joined a resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement in response. Others may not have connected because everything seemed fine in their neighborhood.  Still others fell somewhere in between. Injustice is a word widely associated with the aftermath of Mr. Floyd’s death and the events beyond.  There is no doubt that injustice happens – everywhere.

Some lifelong residents of Cass County felt called to action and contacted friends to come alongside them in continuing their journey toward equity and enlightenment.  Now there exists a collaboration of people that wants to examine Cass County, realizing that we are each deeply affected by the dehumanization of one.
